FAQ's

Choosing a nursery for your child can prove difficult. We aim to ensure that you feel confident in our care and content that your child is happy, as they grow and learn with us. There are many things to consider when choosing the right childcare for you and your child, here are a few things that may help you as you do.

How do I decide?

Look around, each setting offers differing environments and types of care. As a parent you will know if a nursery is the right one for you. Take your child and your partner or a friend, it is important to get all the information you need so that you can make the right decision for you and your child. Make sure you have a list of questions, we will be happy to answer any queries you have. If you leave and still have questions please just give us a call.

How do I register?

Give us a call on 01723 342425. We will make a time to suit where you can come and go through our registration forms. This is a great time for us to discuss the needs of your child and we can work together to ensure your child is taken care of to the best of our ability and that the transition runs smoothly. There is a £30 registration fee which is paid when you complete the forms. We will then arrange settling in sessions where your child can spend time with us, getting to know us and where we can get to know you and the needs of your child.

How does early years funding work?

The funding for 2 year olds is based on your personal circumstance, it depends upon your income and whether you are in receipt of specific benefits. If you are eligible you can claim for 15 hours of free childcare for 38 weeks each year (term time only).

3 and 4 year old funding is defined as universal funding and extended entitlement funding. Universal funding is available to all 3 and 4 year olds. Extended entitlement will depend on your employment status as determined by HMRC.

For further information please go to www.childcarechoices.gov.uk

We can talk through your options and work with you on making the most of your funding.

Please note that there is a charge or any additional hours or sessions over and above your funded hours and a charge for all meals. This is calculated monthly and invoice accordingly.

There is a requirement by the local authority for you to complete a parental declaration form to access your funding with us.

How are fees calculated?

Fees are calculated over 51 weeks and divided by 12 months so that parents pay the same amount each month. Any additional sessions are added to your invoice accordingly each month. If you work for the NHS and have one of our flexible places (limited availability). You are required to get your booking forms in early to avoid disappointment and ensure accurate billing on your account. Please be aware that we are closed all bank holidays and 2 days each year to facilitate staff training, these are chargeable. We are also closed between Christmas and New Year, fees are calculated accordingly over 51 weeks to ensure you are not charged.

What happens when my child is unwell?

If you feel your child is unwell and needs paracetamol to help them through their day (i.e. a cold or teething) we would ask you to complete a medication form so that we can administer the medicine during the nursery day, however if we feel that your child is struggling their day in nursery we will give you a call.

If your child comes to nursery and becomes unwell in our care we will give you a call, it may just be a case of coming yourself to administer some paracetamol, however if we feel that your child is too unwell to cope with a busy nursery day or in need of medical attention we will ask you to come and collect your child for their well-being and that of all the children in our care.

Please note that if your child has diarrhoea and or sickness there is an exclusion period, children can return post 48 hrs clear of symptoms. If you do seek medical advice and antibiotics are prescribed then there is an exclusion period of 48 hours, this is to eliminate any risk of an allergic reaction and to ensure your child is on the road to recovery i.e. in good spirits and able to cope with a busy nursery day.

Is my child safe?

We have a very strict policy in place. You can nominate people along with yourself to collect you child however we would if possible like to meet them, see a picture of them or get a full description prior to them collecting. They will need a password to access the building. If we are unsure will call you immediately. Our outdoor area is fully secure with high fencing and lockable gates. Our front door is always locked and visitors, parents and guests can only gain access to the building by ringing the door bell, they will then be greeted at the door by a member of the nursery team.

This list is by no means complete and we are sure you will need to know more, so please get in touch and ask away. We have a number of policies which are included in our welcome pack, however if you feel you need further clarification on any aspects of our policy or practice please just ask, we feel you can only make an informed decision about which early years provision to choose for your child when you have all the information you need.
